What We're Attracted To
Skimpy Halloween Costume's...Sexy or Slutty?
It's that time of the year again. When college girls run around in the freezing cold weather wearing skimpy outfits, weird makeup, and latex. I'm referring to Halloween of course, and around big colleges it's like the Superbowl of party nights.
Every year it seems like the girl's costumes get more and more revealing (I swear I saw a girl last year dressed as a hooker). At the parties and bars it's almost like a contest to see who can show off the most skin.
I always wondered what guys thought of it -- how they viewed those girls.
So guys...what do you think, do you look at these girls as trashy or slutty? or do you think it's hot and sexy?
Girls, feel free to chime in with your thoughts too!

It pisses me off when chicks use Halloween as an excuse to dress slutty. If you want to dress slutty, just do it, but don't use Halloween as your excuse. Halloween is supposed to be about super awesome costumes and hilarity. Sorry, but putting on some barely there costume is not a costume. Not that it's all your fault ladies, considering how most adult costumes are regular costumes for guys, but the female version is slutted up. Talk about sexist.

I gotta agree with scarlette. Unless you're a 12 year old girl trying to look older than you actually are. Adults being frankly sexual doesn't bother me, but 12 or 14 year olds running around half clad in the middle of the night on Halloween when there are drunk jerks wandering around makes me nervous.
That being said, I love dressing up sexy on Halloween, but oddly enough, mostly when I'm single. This is the first Halloween in AGES that I haven't been single, and I went with something that covered me head to wrist to ankle. So if you want to use Halloween to try to pick up dates, fine with me! I get to enjoy watching all the pretty (adult) ladies.

OK, I just gotta interject... why does everybody feel it's their business if someone wants to spend their dress up time being frankly sexual? Saying you wouldn't respect someone who isn't creative enough about how they express their sexuality in their Halloween costume seems harsh.
Some want to show off their body on Halloween. Some want to show off their intellect or creativity. Some want to challenge social boundaries. As long as the person in question is doing what they actually want to do, then that's cool by me!
I think the question should be more about what someone's goals are for the outfit... does she just want to look good for her own sake, or is she trying to attract someone? If so, what kind of someone? Remember that NOT everybody is smart/artistic/creative/beautiful etc etc etc, so saying that ALL costumes should be one way makes no sense.
And to cap it off... what better expression of individuality/independence would it be if everybody just dressed exactly how they wanted on Halloween without worrying about losing somebody's respect?

I don't really respect someone who wears a cheap, "sexy" costume. Any costume that is of something that is not normally sexual and then removes some of the clothing is nothing to be proud. You're wasting the opportunity of the holiday.
It's the one day of the year where it is widely socially acceptable to wear absolutely anything! People should be using this chance to show themselves as they really want to be seen. If you want to be seen as cheaply sexy, then I guess, go ahead.
But if you want to be seen as interesting, stimulating... what have you AND sexy, I really think you can take full advantage of Halloween. As I've found out so far this October, guys will go crazy for a girl who can wear an awesome and intellectual costume and look good at the same time.
As everybody else has pretty much said, it's not about the skin you show but how you show it.

Women should look as sexy as humanly possible on Halloween. It's the one time when fetish wear is accepted nationwide: http://datedaily.com/dating/top-10/17a-sexy-halloween-costumes/
I say go for it. Look as sexy as possible.

I agree with lookasquirrel down below. It's not so much what you show but how you show it. Be creative. Put together a sexy looking version of the wild thing from "where the wild things are" (don't know if thats a good idea but you get my point).
Anyone can walk around with a bathing suite on and get guys to look and talk to them. That's not the point. The point is to look hot and also enjoy the holiday.

I think dressing up can be a lot of fun, but you have to do it in a creative way. Do not just put on your sluttiest black outfit with some cheap costume pieces you got at Walmart the day before, like cat ears and a tail or devil horns and a pitchfork. It's great if your costume looks hot, but it's still a lame costume. I would not look down on all girls who wear sexy costumes, but I am disappointed to see all the lame costumes every year. Think about it for awhile instead of picking up the cheapest and easiest thing. If you get to dress up in a costume on one night a year, don't you want to take advantage of it and put on something really fun and unique? Maybe that's just me.
You might get a lot of attention from guys, but if you look like a stripper, aren't they going to treat you like one too? I guess that's fine if you're prepared for it and you want to pretend to be a stripper or a slut or a prostitute for an evening, but you'll have to be prepared for the sort of attention that strippers receive. If that's what you want and it's appropriate for the party you're going to, then have a ball.

I think a lot of women get it wrong. It's not about how much skin you show, it's about how you show it.
Be creative. Wearing nothing if you got a great body is extremely sexy but the true attraction comes from wearing something that gets a guys mind rolling. Something like a sexy nurse or teacher makes things exciting. It's like role playing. It will play into fantasies.
You can do all these things without walking around with a Borat type bathing suite on. The girls who walk around with thongs and bras are just going to get cold, get harassed, and get attention from the wrong men.

As a guy in college, I would be lying to say that I enjoy walking the streets of campus around Halloween time. It feels like a red light district has taken over campus.
It seems like girls in college consider this the one day they have an excuse to dress as slutty as they want without getting repercussions. It's like they one day to let loose, pretend they are in a music video, and show what they got.
I see nothing wrong with it as long as it's just fun and games for one night. It's not reflecting the girl if it's just for Halloween. The girl's that have issues with this stuff are the ones who are wearing it every single weekend.

Personally, I'm a little tired of seeing all the sexy and sometimes raunchy costumes. I don't mind a little touch of sexiness, but I think a lot of costumes go to extremes today... epecially if you look at some of the kids costumes on the market.
There is absolutly nothing wrong with a little cleavage or a little leg, but why would you want to flaunt everything you have? To me, that's part of the fun of dating/being single. Giving a guy something to work with... something to imagine... something to want.
It's just my opinion though.

It's Halloween! Time to dress up, have fun, and you want to go a little sexy, I wouldn't think you trashy for it (unless it was not situationally appropriate...
[FWIW though, the women wearing creative costumes that are not over the top revealing also get noticed by me as well... because I assume that this person has creativity that lasts the whole year :-) ]
