Can you flirt other than face to face?
Somebody somewhere mentioned that you can't really flirt online, and I was curious about what other people thought.
Is it possible to flirt with someone who is not in the room with you? What different approaches do you need for different modes of communication(text, IM, phone, telegraph, letter, e-mail, web cam)? How is the experience different than in person for you?

Nothing beats the rush of the in-person ...
Nothing beats the rush of the in-person sexual innuendo, which I always construe as flirtation. Being able to see the other person's reaction is choice. Nothing is sexier than a mischievious grin!
However, there is something to be said for a beautifully worded flirtation, or witty reparte, which sometimes you need time to think of (or in my case, need to look up to make sure you're spelling the words correctly).
Can I just say I love all forms of flirtation? When someone flirts with me, it makes my day.

I think it's easier to flirt online than face to face.
Although Face to face is better and more accurate as you respond to each other's tone of voice, facial expressions and body language.
Flirting online is easier as there is the same obvious rejection, innuendoes can be subtly made not to mention the winking emoticon!

I can only really flirt online because I can take the time to think of something cute. I also like that I can blush and gush without the other person seeing it.
My methods of flirting usually involve pet names (starting a conversation by saying "hey beautiful") and generally by being super interested in what they have to say. Throwing in compliments, sexual jokes/innuendo, asking probing questions, and acting like they are the most important person in the world to you at that moment work to make other small things that you do more effective.

Absolutely! For thousands of years people have been writing love notes and poems to give to the ones they desire or love. To me this is just one of the ways that you can flirt without being face to face.
In todays world of communication it's even easier than that. I would go as far as saying that when two people meet, half of the communication takes place not face to face. All of the talking over the phone, text messaging, possibly instant messaging, and possibly e-mail includes tons of flirting.
Text messaging was barely used when I was still single but instant messaging, email, and of course the phone was. I definitely did my fair share of flirting and schmoozing with women through these types of communication which includes no face to face interaction. It was a huge part of my dating game and was very effective.
