They always say that you can tell a lot by a person based on how your dog reacts when they walk through your house. Or they say one of the most common patterns in serial killers is how they abuse animals while they're young.
I'm a big believer in this stuff. I've always believed watching an animal interact with someone can share a lot of insights.
What do you guys think? Is this just crazy stuff? Over analyzing? Or do you think there is some truth to all of it?

I don't know if I would ever change my opinion about someone for the worse because of their chemistry with animals, but it would change my opinion for the better.
This is not because I believe essentially good people have good chemistry with animals, but because I freakin' love animals, and so if they have chemistry with my pets, it's a big plus in my books.
In terms of what you could tell about me from how I interact with animals - probably a lot. I tend to let loose around animals. It's an excuse for me to make funny voices, and be silly. You'll probably see a different side of me when I'm playing with a puppy than when we're out to a candle lit dinner.

I know I tend to consider a person differently depending upon how an animal reacts to them. Animals are more intune with their survival instincts and can tell when something is a threat. If I'm with a group of people and one of my animals react differently to one specific person it causes me to question whether or not that person is really who they say they are.

I've never heard of this and it kind of sounds creepy. I would never judge a person base on how my dog reacts to them. I consider my family dog to be pretty dumb and not really a credible source when it comes to my lovelife lol.

I definitely watch how people's pets respond to them, and how they interact with mine as a judgment of character. Obviously, you have to account for an animals personality in all this... for instance, I once dated a really nice guy whose dog showed all the signs of an abused dog, and it really bothered me... until I found out that she was a rescue dog. Then I liked him a whole lot, lol. I'm also very cagey of guys who aren't nice to my cat. I don't care how much you hate cats, she's MY cat and that should be enough for you not to be a douche (I'm not saying if you don't like cats you should pretend too, btw). But you don't need to prove your machismo by pushing MY cat off MY bed! (Yes, someone did that once. He didn't get invited to return to my bed.)
K, rant over.

How can we account for the animals personality? I've seen cats sulk and turn their back until you make the effort to go say hi, or dogs that hate men (due to past experiences), and both cats and dogs jealous of anyone competing for their owners attention...
I suppose an animal that is normally quite friendly not trusting someone might be a worthwhile sign, but I wouldn't write a rule for all animal/people interactions.
